Tallo Community Code of Conduct
The Tallo Community Code of Conduct
Our mission is to provide a helpful, meaningful, and safe place for Tallo users to connect with others, ask questions, share knowledge, and provide peer-to-peer and mentor-to-peer guidance on high school and your next steps in your academic and career journey.
To that end, we will be working hard to ensure that we align our actions with that purpose. Our community code of conduct should not only help you understand how to act within the community but also help you understand what to expect from others in this space.
You are the heart of the Tallo Community. In order to ensure the success and safety of our community, we operate with a set code of conduct. When you join Tallo, you are making a commitment to adhere to these guidelines. Please note that our community also falls under Tallo's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If you see something you believe falls outside of the code of conduct please flag the content.
Treat others with respect
All members should feel safe in our community regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, first language, ability, race, ethnicity, national origin, or any other dimension of diversity. Refrain from language that is harmful, including (but not limited to) comments that are racist, sexist, sexual, ableist, ageist, homophobic, or exclusionary in any way. The views expressed on the Tallo Community are those of the individual contributors.
- Posts that we find to be hateful, inflammatory, or harassing will be removed—if you don’t have something nice to say, don't say it.
- Any action or post that threatens the safety of another member will be removed without notice.
- Avoid name-calling, personal attacks, and anything else that would make other users feel unwelcome.
- It is OK to disagree - but it is imperative that you are professional and only provide positive, constructive criticism and/or ideas.
- Any content found contrary to these ideals will be found in violation of our code of conduct and you will be removed from the Tallo Community and Tallo platform.
Improve the community through meaningful participation
Work with us to ensure this community is a great place for discussion by always doing your best to enhance the conversation either with comments of your own or feedback on others' posts. The more you participate, the more you are able to help others (and earn points towards becoming a Top Influencer).
- Use the “Unanswered Questions” section to identify areas where you can show off your expertise and contribute valuable content to the community.
- If you can’t find a question, ask away! Just be sure to ask it in the most relevant category you can find.
- Provide full, complete, and reproducible information so community members can answer your question.
- Include images, links, or other media with your posts to create high-quality content that will have a larger impact.
- React to other members’ posts to give feedback.
- If you include any content from someone else's work (i.e. text, images, video, etc) make sure to give them credit in your post. If credit isn't given the post can be considered plagiarism and removed.
- Make life-long friends. You are among an incredible population of individuals from all walks of life from whom you can learn something new every day. Connect with them, share ideas, and foster professional relationships. Psst...it's called networking! Take full advantage of the Tallo Community in this regard.
Be the best version of yourself
The Tallo Community is a collaborative forum where you can learn from others, exchange ideas, and network with potential colleges, trade schools, and university connections. We ask that you present yourself in a respectful and professional manner through your comments and your profile.
- Avoid using your full name or any inappropriate, controversial, or hateful @usernames
- Any content found contrary to these ideals will be found in violation of our code of conduct and you will be removed from the Tallo Community and Tallo platform.
- Only create one Tallo Community account per member
If you see something, say something
We will be monitoring the community to make sure content is easy to find and everyone is following the guidelines outlined here. However, there are a lot more of you than there are of us, so be sure to send any feedback or comments our way!
- Use the “Flag” button on any post that you believe is inappropriate or out of place, and our administrators will review it.
- Send any feedback about how we can improve the community experience by adding it in the Tallo Community Feedback discussion
- Do not share your full name, email, address, cell phone number, age, grade, school name, city, or any other information that could lead to your identification.
Keep it clean
Discussion of inappropriate activities or content, which include but are not limited to: narcotics, illegal sexual content, cursing, circumvention of copy protection and piracy, are strictly off-limits and will result in a ban from the site.
Stay on topic
Keep all topics relevant to education and career. If your topic or question does not fall within the designated categories it may be deleted. Do your best to put questions and topics in the correct place so that others can easily find your posts. This way everyone can spend more time in the community helping each other instead of searching.
- Choose clear and concise titles for your questions and posts.
- Search for your question before posting it to make sure it hasn’t already been asked.
- Post your questions in the correct category and include relevant tags on your post.
- Stay on topic within a post. If you want to talk about something else, create a new one.
- No spamming (links, referrals, advertisements, etc.)
Grow, learn, help others, and have fun
The most important rule in our guidelines is to enjoy your time here in the Tallo Community. Come back often and participate. The more you do, the more of an impact you will have.
Function of Administrators & Moderators
We have a team of administrators and moderators who you may see pop up from time to time in the community. They are there to facilitate discussion, help organize the content, and make sure everyone is behaving appropriately in the community.
- Administrators may chime in from time to time to provide additional context or resources to a post or to recommend another user suited to help.
- Administrators have the right to edit, remove, or merge content as they deem fit to maintain the quality of content in the community. This includes updating outdated URLs.
- Administrators will be on the lookout for inappropriate, offensive, or off-topic posts. We reserve the right to remove any content for any reason we deem fit.
- Administrators will also be on the lookout for individuals who are not behaving appropriately in the community. We reserve the right to terminate any membership temporarily or permanently as we see fit.
